$700 Million Stolen
US cargo theft in 2024 rose to $700 million an increase of over $100 million, all the signals are that it will continue to do so in 2025.
Organized retail crime (ORC) groups have developed sophisticated methods of intercepting and taking loads. Retailers and carriers need to fight back with multi-level security strategies to beat these rising losses.
One area for focus is the simple act of sealing the trailer before it leaves and ensuring the integrity of the seal upon arrival at its destination.
Anti-tamper seals are used for several important reasons, mainly to protect products, assets, or sensitive information from being tampered with, stolen or altered. Here are some key reasons for their use:
Security: Anti-tamper seals help ensure that all or part of a shipment has not been stolen, a product or package has not been opened, altered, or tampered with.
Integrity Assurance: In industries like food, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, it’s essential to maintain the integrity of the product. Anti-tamper seals prevent unauthorized access that could potentially damage the product or compromise its quality.
Compliance: Certain industries, such as pharmaceuticals and defense, require tamper-evident packaging to comply with legal and regulatory standards.
Theft Prevention: In cases of transporting high-value goods or sensitive information, anti-tamper seals help prevent theft or unauthorized access during transit. If a seal is broken or tampered with, it is easier to identify where and when a breach occurred.
Anti-tamper seals help to maintain security, trust, and regulatory compliance across various industries. Some plastic seals can be easily defeated, opened and then closed without any sign of damage.
Selecting a quality anti tamper device is critical to maintain security, if a seal can be opened and closed without trace, it leads to false confidence in the integrity of the load.
Where Secureseal steps in the unit offers a randomly generated 5 digit number that is added to the dispatch documents. If the trailer doors are opened the code changes, it is practically impossible to replicate the original number, the odds are approximately 1 in 100,000!! Secureseal is also available as a barrier seal, with an integrated lock, used in conjunction with various strengths of armored cable to add that extra level of physical entry protection.
Why Secureseal?
- Extremely robust and ever present tamper evidence with optional locking solution.
- It is always present (it is fixed permanently to the trailer door), there is no reason why every load should not be sealed. No excuses.
- It has an operational life of over 50,000 seals, actually offering a cost saving over single use plastics.
- It is recyclable, made from stainless steel, during its life it can replace tens of thousands of single use plastic seals, it is the sustainable responsible choice.
